In April 2008, a diverse group of people from the business, government,
and peacebuilding communities gathered in Cleveland, Ohio, at Case
Western Reserve University to envision a National Peace Academy and
took on the shared responsibility of making that vision a reality.
Since that April Vision Meeting, we have been delighted with the
overwhelmingly positive response.
At this time, the infrastructure for the design process is in place, including an advisory board, a secretariat, website,
several work teams, answers to a set of frequently asked questions, an
informational flyer, a formal prospectus that elaborates the need for
and unique design process of this historic endeavor, and a management
plan and budget for carrying it out.
As part of that design process, we have set the date and place for a
Global Stakeholder Summit – March 2-4, 2009, at Case Western in
Cleveland. Our goal is to bring together 200 to 300 people from various
segments of civil society, business, and government, from both the U.S.
and abroad, to participate in this historic endeavor.
You can find out more about the National Peace Academy initiative at its website.
